Affenpinscher

The Affenpinscher dog originates from Germany and it get its name from the word Affe, which translates from German to monkey. Therefore, the Affenpinscher is often referred to the Monkey Terrier. Terrier-like in many ways, the Affenpinscher dog predates the Miniature Schnauzer and Brussels Griffon and is classified by the AKC in the Pinscher / Schnauzer group. Perhaps due to the shared characteristics they have with many breeds, they are known to get along well with other pets and dogs. Usually black in appearance, they can also be found with in a variety of colors including grey, black and tan, and beige.
