The Bouvier des Flandres or Flanders Cattle Dog is a dog breed with origins in Flanders, Belgium. They are a herding breed that was developed to herd sheep and cattle, to haul and pull carts, and as a all-purpose farm dog. They were bred by mixing general farm dogs with imported dog breeds such as the Irish Wolfhound and Scottish Deerhound. Today, Bouviers des Flandres are gentle and loyal dogs that make for good family pets and guard dogs.
