The Chinook is the official state dog of New Hampshire and originated there as a sled dog in the early 1900s. The first Chinook dog was a cross between a farm dog and Siberian Husky. It was an important team member during an expedition led by Admiral Byrd to the Antarctic in 1928. Chinooks today make for affectionate and loving family companions and are known to get along great with children. They are intelligent, easy to train, love to be part of the pack, and get along well with other dogs.
