The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is a small breed of terrier dog that originated in Scotland. They were originally bred to hunt otter and badger. Compared to other terriers, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier is considered less reserved and is often called the “gentleman” of the terrier family of dogs. They do not bark as much as other terriers and are not as high-strung. They are affectionate and loving with family members but can be reserved around strangers, so amply socialization is recommended.
