The Gordon Setter is a large dog breed with an attractive black and tan coat. The history of black and tan setters places them in Scotland in the 1600s, but it wasn’t until the 1800s that they gained popularity thanks in part to the fourth Duke of Gordon, who bred them in his kennels. They were developed to hunt birds like quail and pheasant, and while not considered the fastest of dogs, they have great endurance and rarely make false points. Gordon Setters are confident, intelligent, loyal and affectionate. They form close bonds with their owners and make good family pets. They are gentle but can be boisterous, so care should be taken around small children and ample socialization and training is recommended.
We offer a nice assortment of custom and personalized (or not) gifts for Gordon Setter lovers including coffee cups, t-shirts, and iPhone & Galaxy cases.
