The Havanese is the national dog of Cuba. It is a small and sturdy dog breed well known and cherished for its silky long hair. They were bred originally to be companions in the 19th century for Cuban elite. Since then, they have been more than just lap dogs, even though they still carry a “Velcro dog” designation. They are energetic, intelligent and athletic dogs that excel in a variety of activities from circus performing to dog related sports.
