The Japanese Chin or Japanese Spaniel is a lap dog and companion dog with origins in Asia. They were extremely popular with Japanese nobility and it is in Japan that their current look was developed. The Japanese Chin is often described as "cat-like" due to its propensity for using its paws to wipe its face. They also have a great balance and like to sit in high places like on the back of a couch or chair. They were bred to be companions, so they make excellent family dogs that are usually quiet, entertaining, and get allow well with children and other animals.
