The Neapolitan Mastiff is a large and powerful Molosser type of dog. They have a history that may date back to the 7th century BC where images resembling the Neapolitan Mastiff can be found. Alexander the Great is often credited for creating the Molosser breed by crossing the giant Macedonian war dog with a short haired Italian dog. Today, Neapolitan Mastiffs make great family protectors. They rarely bark and are not for sneaking up on intruders.
