The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a dog breed that originated in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The word Corgi translates to "dwarf". They were developed to herd sheep, cattle and other livestock. They are closely related to the Cardigan Welsh Corgi but are considered their own separate breed. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is intelligent and easy to train. They are affectionate and are always looking to please. Pembroke Welsh Corgis are alert dogs with a tendency to bark, so they make for excellent watch dogs. They get along well with children and other pets, but socialization is required to prevent aggression.
