The Poodle is one of the oldest breeds of dog and was developed for hunting waterfowl. They likely originated in Germany and fully developed into a breed in France. Drawings of Poodles can be found on artifacts dating back to the first century B.C. Today, Poodles are clever and elegant dogs which regularly impress in dog shows. Poodles are affectionate, intelligent and sociable dogs. They are considered the second most intelligent dog breed (after the Border Collie) and are easy to train and excel in obedience training.
