Scottish Deerhound

The Scottish Deerhound is a large breed of hound dog with origins in Scotland. They were originally developed to hunt Scottish Red Deer which were more than twice their size. The exact history of the Deerhound is unknown, but there are records of them being used as far back as the 1500s to hunt deer. Scottish Deerhounds are best described as gentle and brave. They are quiet dogs that enjoy walks and time on the couch. They are courageous but not aggressive. Scottish Deerhounds are affectionate family pets and get along well with children.
