The Shiba Inu is a spitz breed of dog that originated in Japan. They were developed as a hunting dog and to flush birds and other small game like birds and rabbits. They are considered a basal breed of dog that predates modern breeds. The Shiba Inu is an independent, loyal and affectionate dog. They can however be aggressive towards other dogs and proper socialization is a must.
