The Smooth Fox Terrier is a breed of dog which has been known in England since the 1700s. It was the first of all Fox Terrier breeds to be recognized by The Kennel Club, and many terrier breeds are thought to have descended from it. Smooth Fox Terriers are closely related to the Wire Fox Terrier, and some believe they are variations of the same breed. They were historically used as hunting and show dogs. The Smooth Fox Terrier is an alert, energetic, and intelligent dog. They are charming dogs but can be mischievous at times. They like to bark and make good watchdogs. They are friendly with people and family members but may be inclined to pick fights with other dogs. Socialization and training is recommended.
