The Tibetan Spaniel is a small breed of dog that originated in the Himalayan Mountains of Tibet. They are closely related to, and share ancestry with, dogs like the Pug, Tibetan Terrier, Shih Tzu, Pekingese, Lhaso Apso, and Japanese Chins. They are very smart dogs that are often described as “cat-like” due to their tendency to climb and sit in high places, like on the back of chairs and anything that will give them a better view. Tibetan Spaniels are social dogs that thrive on human companionship. Developed by Tibetan monks as companion dogs, they can become very attached and sensitive to their owner’s needs and moods.
