The West Highland White Terrier or Westie is a breed of dog that originated in Scotland. They have a white coat, pointed and erect ears, and usually weight between 15 and 20 pounds. They were originally developed to hunt rodents and are descended from a variety of white terriers including the Poltalloch Terrier. West Highland White Terriers are generally happy little dogs that are always looking for ways to entertain themselves. They make wonderful family pets and companions and usually get along well with children, as long as they’re not being provoked. They are strong-willed dogs but are still considered easy to train.
